Course description: Concept and application of intelligent transport systems (ITS). System specification and consolidation of user requirements.
System and service architecture of ITS. Supporting ITS technologies. Collection and processing of traffic data and information.
Initial ITS applications in some sectors. Pre-travel and travel information ITS services. The route guidance and navigation.
ITS support to transport planning. ITS monitoring and control of traffic flows. ITS surveillance and management of traffic
incidents. Intelligent nodes and links/road section. Systems to improve visibility and prevent collisions. Shipment tracking
systems. Design, modelling and documentation of ITS applications using modern software tools. Planning and implementation
program for ITS applications. Integrated management of ITS. Examples of successful initial ITS applications. Quality of service
indicators and trade-off. Cost-benefit analysis in the ITS. Safety risk assessment model. Model of transport efficiency. Determination
of the value of additional information. Various tools in the development of ITS. Multi-attribute models for assessing efficiency,
safety and environmental improvements.
