Course description: Functioning and structure of the transport system / definitions: traffic, transport, connections, intermodality, interconnectivity, interoperability. Intermodal transport systems. Intermodal transport networks. Design and planning of intermodal networks. Benchmarking in intermodal transport. European Transport Policy / White Paper. Factors for the development of intermodal transport. Market conditions for the development of intermodal transport. Costs of intermodal transport. Characteristics of intermodal technologies in land-water and air transport. Cost analysis of intermodal terminals. Optimization of land-water terminal operational efficiency. Intermodal technologies in postal traffic. Analysis of the current state and assumptions of the development of intermodal transport. Analysis of intermodal transport requirements. Analysis of traffic flows in the EU. Corridor traffic forecast. Intermodal terminals. Logistical requirements for terminals. Network of existing intermodal terminals in Croatia and the EU.
