Course description: The course aims at introducing the 1st year-students at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences to traffic- and transport-related
vocabulary. Topics include their specific areas of the study (Road Traffic and Transport, Railway Traffic and Transport, Air
Traffic and Transport, Water Traffic and Transport, Postal Traffic, Information-communications Traffic, Urban Traffic and
Transport, Intelligent Transport Systems and Logistics). The course focuses on the development of vocabulary / terminology
skills, as well as on revising English grammatical tenses. Materials used for the course include selection of authentic texts
and additional learning materials designed to build up a basis for a wider and deeper knowledge of the current English language.
Students are expected to develop skills of reading and understanding technical texts, writing summaries, translating and written
and oral communication in the field of traffic and transport.
