Sustainable Urban Mobility Boost Smart Toolbox Upgrade (SUMBooST2) is supported by EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.
SUMBooST2 is progressing according to plan. First part of the project research was successfully conducted. Research included desktop research, field research, and big data collection in three pilot cities included in the project, City of Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik which resulted in the first deliverable.
The first deliverable is an important part of the project as it lays the foundations for all professional analysis and development of big data science methodology that leads to creation of new, upgraded final product, a toolbox. Desktop research served for better understanding of pilot cities transport system and as preparation for the field research. Field research and big data collecting were conducted simultaneously so that the big data could be validated by field research data.
The first deliverable resulted in a review of the state of transport systems in pilot cities and collection of big data which is now prepared for extraction of data on mobility. All performed activities set a precondition for the implementation of the second phase of the project and therefore, for the second deliverable. The second deliverable will result in identification of commuter patterns, as well as origin-destination pairs with significant passenger car usage and pairs with significant sustainable modes of transport.
EIT Urban Mobility aims to accelerate solutions and the transition towards a user-centric, integrated and truly multimodal transport system. As the leading European innovation community for urban mobility, EIT Urban Mobility works to avoid fragmentation by facilitating collaboration between cities, industry, academia, research and innovation to solve the most pressing mobility challenges of cities. Using cities as living labs, its industry, research and university partners will demonstrate how new technologies can work to solve real problems in real cities by transporting people, goods and waste in smarter ways.
