Summary:
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) present an extremely wide research field which incorporates knowledge gathered from various disciplines. Depending on the actual field of application we can divide development of ITS in road traffic, maritime transport, air transport, and generally logistics and transport. Each of these transport modes can be further analyzed into segments which are being developed by the specialists in the particular field. Some of the goals in ITS, which need to be achieved and serve as general topics for this special session, are:
- Development road infrastructure for ITS application
- Integration of vehicle navigation and communication systems
- Usage of smart routing algorithms
- Improving efficiency of logistic services
- Cooperative systems for Smart Cities
- Design and implementation of sensors and sensor networks
ITS session will be focused on presenting current state-of-the-art in ITS and its applications towards developing smart traffic models which should provide higher efficiency and safety with lower transport costs and pollution emissions.
This session is backed-up by ITS Croatia and Department of Intelligent Transport Systems of University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences.
