Filip Vrbanić was born 15th of January 1994. at Zagreb where he finished high school “Tehnička škola Ruđera Boškovića” as a computer technician. In 2014. he continued his education at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, ITS and logistics, where he defended his thesis on 27th of September 2019. and received his M.Sc. degree. He graduated on the topic “Framework for Simulation of Variable Speed Limit Control Systems on Urban Motorways Based on Deep Learning” (mentor: Assoc. Prof. Edouard Ivanjko, Ph. D.). In December 2019. he started working at Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences as the assistant in the engineering sciences, field technology of traffic and transport. In October 2019. he enrolled in the Ph.D. study “Traffic and Transportation“ at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (Mentors: Asst. Prof. Martin Gregurić Ph.D. and Prof. Edouard Ivanjko Ph.D.). He obtained the title of Doctor of Science by completing the postgraduate doctoral study “Traffic and Transportation” at the Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciences in February 2025, with the thesis titled “Spatial-temporal variable speed limit control on motorways based on congestion detection and machine learning in connected and autonomous vehicles environment”, under the mentorship of Asst. Prof. Martin Gregurić Ph.D. and Prof. Edouard Ivanjko Ph.D., with the highest remark SUMMA CUM LAUDE. Currently, he works at Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at Department of Intelligent Transport Systems.
He actively uses programming languages C# and Python, software packages Matlab, PTV Vissim and SUMO, software MS SQL Server and English language.
