Edouard Ivanjko defended his bachelor thesis with emphasis on scientific research in 2001 under mentorship of prof. Nedjeljko Perić, and his PhD thesis in 2009 on the Faculty of electrical engineering and computing University of Zagreb under the mentorship of prof. dr. Ivan Petrović. Since 2011 he is with the Department of intelligent transportation systems of the Faculty of transport and traffic sciences University of Zagreb. His working duties are related with teaching and research. Teaching includes lectures on following courses: Control theory in traffic and transport, Electrical engineering, Computer science, Systems for virtual reality in traffic, Artificial intelligence and Traffic control systems. To improve the skills of his students he started several workshops like: Seminar for efficient learning, Skills for writing CVs, Carrier planning skills and Presentations skills. All workshops are held in cooperation with professional lecturers and student associations. His research topics of interests include application of computer vision for road traffic parameters, application of artificial intelligence for road traffic control, autonomous vehicles, and estimation and forecasting of road traffic parameters.
As a researcher he was or is active on the following projects: FP7 „Intelligent Cooperative Sensing for improved traffic Efficiency” ICSI, IPA IIIc „Computer Vision Innovations for Safe Traffic“ VISTA and „ System for route optimization in a dynamic transport environment “ SORDITO financed from EU structural funds and MZOS projects: „ Development Methodology of Integrated Adaptive Transport-logistic Systems“, „Control of mobile robots and vehicles in unknown and dynamic environments“, „Intelligent Control of Mobile Robots“ and „Process automation – new control approaches“. He is or was also a local management committee member for the Republic of Croatia for EU COST actions “Towards autonomic road transport support systems” TU1102 and “High-Performance Modelling and Simulation for Big Data Applications (cHiPSet)” IC1406. He is the local research group leader on the Faculty of transport and traffic sciences for the „Scientific centre of excellence for data science and cooperative systems“.
Until now he published three chapters in books, 7 scientific papers in international journals and 37 scientific papers on international conferences. He actively uses the German and English language.
