Curriculum vitae
Krešimir Kušić was born on November 30th, 1987 in Zagreb, where he also completed his primary and secondary education. In 2012 he started studying Traffic Engineering (course: Intelligent transportation systems and Logistics) at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in traffic and transport engineering, in 2015 and 2017, respectively. He graduated with the master thesis: “Framework for Simulation of Variable Speed Limit Control Systems on Urban Motorways Based on Learning”. In November 2017 he enrolled Ph.D. study (“Technological System of Traffic and Transport”) at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. According to the decision of the College Council, in October 2017, he was employed as a Research assistant at the Department of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. As a research assistant, he partly teaches lectures: Computer sciences and Intelligent transportation systems 1 on the undergraduate level, and Virtual reality in traffic systems, Operational research and Intelligent transportation systems 2 at the graduate level. He received Rector’s Award of the University of Zagreb in 2016. The same year, he received the Dean’s Award as a “Best graduate student” in the study program: Intelligent transportation systems”. Under the Erasmus+ K103 SST Exchange programme he visited Laboratory “Distributed Systems Group” at the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin, in Ireland (June 10-14, 2019). He participated in two international COST Summer Training Schools: cHiPSet Training School “Big Data Processing and Analytics in the Internet of Everything Era” held in Novi Sad, Serbia in 2017 and 3rd cHiPSet Training school “Large-Scale Data Mining and Machine Learning for Big Data Analytics” in 2018 at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Also, he participated at three Summer Schools organized under project Advanced Methods and Technologies in Data Science and Cooperative Systems (DATACROSS) held in Split, Croatia in September (2017, 2018 and 2019). In his work he actively uses the following program packages: MATLAB, programming languages (C# and Python), microscopic traffic simulators (PTV Vissim and SUMO), Blender (3D modeling software) and document preparation system LaTeX, as well he has a good knowledge of AutoCAD, SQL, Unity and WinQSB software package for problem-solving in Operations Research and Management Science. He speaks the English language. The field of research interest is related to developing, analysis, modelling and testing intelligent transportation solutions for sustainable and efficient highway traffic.
