On 10-11 May 2018, an international conference on science and traffic development, ZIRP 2018, was held in Opatija, Croatia. The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb.
The topic of the 2018 ZIRP Conference was finding ways to address the challenges of bringing innovation to the traffic industry without compromising safety and security. Keynote speakers came from the ranks of the most renowned organizations from Europe, such as Mrs. Bakran Marcich (Deputy Director-General European Commission Mobility and Transport, Croatia), Dr. Cem Cetek (Anadolu University, Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Turkey), Dr. Hans-Dietrich Haasis (University of Bremen, Maritime Business and Logistics, Germany), Dr. Fernando Liesa (Alliance for Logistics Innovation, Spain), Mr. Siniša Reljić (Navs Consult, Croatia), Dr. Marcin Seredynski (Volvo E-Bus Competence Center, Luxemburg), Dr. Dražen Vrhovski (Wawa Group, e-mobility solutions, Croataia) and Dr. Mateusz Zajac (Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Department of Mechanical Enginering, Poland).
The Department of Aeronautics was represented by four attendees: prof. Doris Novak, prof. Biljana Juričić, Dr. Tomislav Radišić, Mr. Bruno Antulov-Fantulin and Mr. Petar Andraši. Mr. Andraši presented his work on the flight test validation of PBN concept of operation in terminal area in simulated environment, whereas Mr. Antulov-Fantulin presented his work on the Air Traffic Controller assessment of the Free Route Airspace implementation within Zagreb Area Control Centre and Dr. Radišić presented the challenges and solutions for urban UAV operations.
