SKAI LABS, a spin-off company from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, creates advanced technology solutions to optimize airspace and air traffic. This week they are participating at Zagreb Connect 2024, a conference which brings together the high tech community at Croatia’s leading startup hub. At Zagreb Connect knowledge and best entrepreneurial experiences are exchanged and investors and experts from the economic, academic, and institutional sectors attend, ensuring an excellent opportunity for networking and growth.
SKAI LABS’ interactive interface for air traffic complexity offers aviation professionals detailed real-time analyses to manage air traffic effectively. By leveraging advanced AI data processing and intuitive visualizations, the system provides a comprehensive view of air traffic, facilitating efficient and effective decision-making. SKAI LABS’ system improves operational efficiency and safety by identifying critical patterns and trends in dynamic air traffic environments.
“Our main goal is to solve problems of delays, capacity, and air traffic safety, which are becoming increasingly challenging with the growing number of flights. Our innovation comes in the form of a patented system for assessing air traffic complexity, allowing for the adjustment of airspace configurations and traffic regulation by identifying aircraft causing issues and optimizing their routes. Our target group includes air navigation service providers (flight control), regulatory bodies, and the broader aviation industry,” explains Dr. Bruno Antulov-Fantulin, team leader of SKAI LABS.
The SKAI LABS team consists of scientists, machine learning engineers, and experts in aviation navigation and flight control. Dr. Bruno Antulov-Fantulin has extensive experience in managing complex systems in air traffic and is also the inventor of the patent used to commercialize SKAI LABS’ product. Other key team members, whose expertise includes data analysis, the development of advanced algorithms, and direct experience in air traffic control, contribute significantly to the development of innovative ideas and the quality of the product.
“At Zagreb Connect, we expect the opportunity to connect with potential investors and partners, as well as to receive feedback that will help us further develop our product. In a year, we hope to have at least one air traffic control service provider using our solutions, while in five years, we envision SKAI LABS as a leading innovative company in the aviation industry, with multiple users worldwide and a significant impact on reducing emissions and improving passenger experience,” Bruno concludes confidently.
