The consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and teleworking is the increased intensity of the use of information and communication tools and systems, as well as a significant increase in the volume of various forms of e-learning. After numerous DDoS attacks that were carried out on the University Computing Center (SRCE) system itself at the very beginning of distance education, the research team of the Department of Information and Communication Traffic decided to apply for a new project in collaboration with fellow scientists from other countries.

Part of a team of scientists from the Department of Information and Communication Traffic has been continuously engaged in research closely related to cybersecurity for years. Scientists from the Laboratory of Security and Forensic Analysis of Information Communication Systems, located at the Department of Information and Communication Traffic, point to the numerous occurrences of security breaches and the accessibility of communication systems, and one of the methods is DDoS attacks.

In addition to developing a DDoS attack detection model for e-learning systems, recommendations and guidelines will be defined on how to treat and respond to detected anomalies in order to minimize the negative impact of DDoS and similar attacks on the availability of e-learning services.

More information about the project is available in the document.
