The paper was prepared in the Laboratory of Development and Research of Information and Communication Assistive Technology under the guidance of Assist. Prof. Marko Periša, Ph.D.
Abstract:
The development of information and communication technologies has enabled more efficient development of assistive technologies and their application in the daily needs of visually impaired people. The main purpose of this paper is to present system architecture that meets the user needs of visually impaired people when performing the shopping process in stores. The key elements of the system are an application solution for a smartphone and a smart cart that interact with each other in a smart IoT environment and aim to provide all relevant information to the end user. The collected data from the survey defines additional and basic functionalities of smart carts and application. The goal of this proposed service, which uses the significant architecture, is to raise the quality of life of visually impaired people and to raise the degree of mobility in everyday activities.
